- Thesis title: Public arts for inclusive placemaking
Profile
I am a PGR in the Social Justice, Cities and Citizenship research cluster, working on interdisciplinary research about public art in the context of placemaking and regeneration projects. It is a collaborative project in partnership with Beam, a public art organisation based in Wakefield.
I completed an MA in Culture, Creativity and Entrepreneurship in 2016/17 at University of Leeds and an MA in Social Research in 2019/20 as part of my 1+3 funding award from the ESRC White Rose Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP).
Research interests
My PhD aims to explore the perceptions surrounding public art, the potential of evaluation to make implementation processes more inclusive, and possible actions that can be taken to improve policy and practice in this area. Working with the partner organisation, Beam, allows access to a 30 year archive which will offer insight into the chosen case studies.
This project is supervised by Dr. Martin Zebracki and Prof. Robert Vanderbeck (School of Geography, University of Leeds) and Frances Smith (Beam).
