Profile
Amin Sadeghpour is a lecturer in Food Science at the School of Food Science & Nutrition at the University of Leeds. His research focuses on designing and processing functional nanomaterials for food and health applications. He obtained his PhD in Colloid and Surface Chemistry from the University of Geneva and held two postdoctoral positions in Austria and the United Kingdom. He then moved to Switzerland to take on a Scientist position leading X-ray scattering studies at the Center for X-ray Analytics of Empa, during which he was also an external lecturer at the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Basel.
Responsibilities
- Natural Sciences Link Tutor
Research interests
Amin’s research focuses on designing and processing functional nanomaterials for food and health applications. He aims to decode how different nanostructures control the properties of biomaterials and their interactions with biological cells. Particular interest is in the sustainable processing of bio-inspired lipid-polymer hybrid networks with responsive nanoscale hierarchy for innovative applications in food biotechnology and tissue engineering. A key element of Amin’s research involves developing and applying of state of the art in-situ X-ray analytics (SAXS/WAXS) to elucidate the structural dynamics in advanced materials.
