Profile
Amin Sadeghpour is an Associate Professor at the School of Food Science & Nutrition at the University of Leeds. His research focuses on designing biomaterials with controlled hierarchy for food and health applications. He obtained his PhD in Colloid and Surface Chemistry from the University of Geneva and held two postdoctoral positions in Austria and the United Kingdom. He then moved to Switzerland to take a Scientist position leading X-ray scattering at the Center for X-ray Analytics of Empa, where he also served as an external lecturer in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Basel.

Research interests
In the Structural Biomaterials Lab, we focus on designing and characterising hierarchical biomaterials for innovative food and healthtech applications. We particularly develop sustainable and stimuli-responsive hybrid hydrogels & electrospun membranes, driving breakthroughs in food biotechnology and tissue engineering. Our lab also specialises in small and wide angle X-ray scattering methods, with a particular interest on in-situ methods to elucidate the structural dynamics of biomaterials in action, while also advancing SAXS analysis through emerging theoretical tools.
