Noor Zaitun Yahaya

Currently I am an academician and work as university Lecturer at the Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. I do some teaching, supervision Master and PhD student as well as final year project for undergraduate students. My research is on transport and air quality in Malaysia. I am also the President of the Clean Air Society Forum for Malaysia, which link with The Clean Air Asia which registered under United nation agencies. I am also looking forward to any international research collaboration that can be done between the Institute for Transport Studies (ITS) and our local university.

My experience at ITS helped in my job and career from conducting my phd research, networking all over the people within this areas and link them to the Asia. It has helped improve my English and presentations skills; The R package that I explore and used in here really benefit to my current work.

I chose my ITS course and the University of Leeds because of wide range of expertise ITS have/ the supervisors; Equipped IC Junction facilities with a modern and research instrumentation at time I started my PhD. The Staff are very helpful and I feel at home. The University itself has a good study system and guidance for us to follow.

My advice to students interested in this course and a career in transport is that I would recommend them to pursue in this are especially peoples from Asia whereby we have a lot of problem in related to transport. The increment of motor vehicles especially in urban environment need to be control and an option also need to be resolves. We also meet a lot of international students and people in ITS.

Some of the highlights of my career so far would include;

  • Promotion from Lecturer and to Senior Lecturer,
  • Chief Research Grant and Project, Internationalization liaison/committee person and
  • The Clean Air Society Forum for Malaysia Presidents

At ITS we can learn and explore many things here that we doesn’t have sometime in our countries. By coming to ITS that will widen your knowledge and expose you to the world and as well as networking and possibilities for expanding your research collaborations.
