Alice de Sejournet

Profile

I am a Research Fellow within the Institute for Transport Studies. I apply mixed methods (working with both quantitative and qualitative datasets) to help solve environmental and societal challenges.

In my current project, ELEVATE, the primary aim is to understand the potential of existing and new forms of e-micromobility, including identifying the people, places and circumstances where they will be most useful in the UK, to reduce mobility-related energy demand and carbon emissions while improving people’s health. For this purpose, I analyse a wide range of data, including our representative national surveys, as well as GPS, travel diaries and health data collected during e-cargo bike trials. Additionally, I am conducting a controlled trial experiment to expand to e-cargo bikes knowledge on the physical activity associated to active travel.

Previously, I was a Researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels in the electromobility Research Centre (MOBI). There, I studied disruptions in Urban Mobility. A first case study was about the impacts the COVID-19 pandemic had on the transition to sustainable urban mobility. In this range of work, I used mixed methods and different data sources to monitor and evaluate the pandemic’s short-term to long-term impacts on mobility. Besides, I also looked into the future and the advancements in autonomous vehicles. Specifically, I evaluated the future potential of autonomous shuttles to complement public transport. My work focused on cost and business models, but also on passengers’ and other road users’ acceptance of the technology.
