myfood24 online diary

Two students sat a table with a laptop, one gesturing to the screen. Behind them there is the corner of a digital screen visible showing what appears to be a heat map.

Dates: 2012-2016 (spin-out in 2017)

Aim: To create an evidence-based online food diary to support nutritional epidemiology and research into diet-related diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and heart disease.

Summary: Dietary Assessment Ltd (DAL), founded by Professor Janet Cade, was spun out of the University of Leeds in 2017, with investment from the University’s Enterprise Fund, to commercialise myfood24 and respond to a growing range of customer requirements. Originally conceived in the SFSN and funded by a Medical Research Council grant, myfood24 is an online food diary developed to support research into diet-related disease, such as diabetes and cancer, by collecting dietary records and estimating intake of over 100 nutrients. Over time, myfood24 has found applications in the educational sector, and more recently, unveiled a cutting-edge mobile app and web portal, catering to the healthcare sector.

Collaborators: University of Leeds (Prof Janet Cade, Dr Darren Greenwood), Imperial College London (Dr Federica Amati) Rippleffect (name?)
