European Field Trip Photo Competition

At the Institute of Transport Studies, we offer plenty of opportunities for students to experience transport systems in action on optional field trips. For many of our students, the highlight of their

This week-long trip, which takes place this year 3-9 June will include stops in a number of locations, beginning with a journey on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Goathland to Whitby.

Cities on route include Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Delft, Cologne, Gent, Antwerp and Brussels and more where students will experience a variety of transportation methods and infrastructure.

Highlights of the 2018 trip are the Erasmus Bridge, a cycling tour in Delft, Utrecht Centraal redevelopment and water canal experience, and Ghent’s sustainable urban mobility plan and walkability tour.

As part of the trip, students are invited to take part in a photo competition.

The images can be varied but should encompass some of the themes of transportation, sustainability, collaboration, learning and most of all fun! Each picture must include a short caption which describes the content of the image.

Each day a cash prize (10 Euros) will be given for the best picture from the previous day and then at the end of the trip there will be a special prize (£50) for the photo that best captures the spirit of the ITS Euro Trip.

Photos and captions can be posted on Twitter and Facebook, using the hashtag #ITSEuroTrip and tagging ITS, or emailed to: A.Tomlinson(at)leeds.ac.uk.
