Scotland’s Railway covers a large geographical area from the Borders to Thurso at the far tip of the North East of Scotland. It provides rapid access along busy commuter routes to our 7 cities. It fulfils a variety of travel needs from business and leisure to daily commuter services, including cross border services; it supports rural services and the needs of freight customers alike. Scotland’s Railway operates the largest suburban rail network outside London providing links between communities and employment, industries and markets. It contributes up to £1.3bn each year to Scotland’s economy.

Biog: Alex has a BA Hons Economics from University of Leeds and was supervised by Prof Chris Nash of ITS for his dissertation on rail franchising. Alex is currently Managing Director of Scotland’s Railway with a wealth of experience in the rail industry and he will share some of his knowledge and opportunities.

The seminar will be curated by Prof Chris Nash and Prof Andrew Smith of ITS and there will be a Q&A session towards the end.
