When science hits the headlines: how the Science Media Centre can help you

Are you interested in how the media works? Is your subject area something journalists are (or should be) interested in? Do you want to help journalists report research better?

Fiona Lethbridge from the Science Media Centre (SMC) will give a free talk on why journalists need scientists to help them report accurately and how you can get involved.

The talk will include examples of when controversial science has hit the headlines and the difference scientists can make. Fiona Lethbridge and the University press office will discuss how we can help you communicate your own research to the public via the national news media. 

A University of Leeds researcher will also speak about their recent experience working with the Science Media Centre on a controversial subject and the media response.
