Profile
I joined the Institute for Transport Studies (ITS) as a Postgraduate Researcher in October 2024. My PhD research examines wider economic benefits of transport infrastructure investments in low-income countries. Focusing on Malawi as a case study, my research seeks to improve understanding of how transport investments contribute to economic development and poverty reduction beyond their direct transport impacts. This work is supported by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.
I hold a Bachelor of Social Science in Economics and History from the University of Malawi and an MSc in Economics and Finance for Development from the University of Bradford. Prior to commencing my doctoral studies, I gained extensive experience in Malawi's public sector, particularly within the Ministry of Transport, where I worked on strategic policy formulation and analysis at both national and sectoral levels.
My research and professional interests centre on the role of infrastructure investment and public policy in achieving sustainable economic growth and reducing poverty. I am particularly interested in using data-driven evidence to support effective policymaking and maximise the development impact of transport investments in low-income countries.
