Profile
M. Shaheen Sarker is a PhD student at the University of Leeds, UK. He has professional experience of more than 15 years as a transport engineer, working for the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) in Bangladesh. He played a pivotal role in the road safety division of that department to ensure the safety standards of Bangladesh’s arterial road network. He achieved his master’s degree from KTH, Sweden, in 2009. He also attended various road safety training courses, including a short course on road safety at Hasselt University, Belgium, through the VLIR-UOS scholarship programme. His current research focuses on road users’ behaviour and pedestrians’ safety in developing countries, funded by the Bangabandhu fellowship of Bangladesh.
