I am currently part of a Scheme Sponsor Internship Placement. This involves taking client requirements including desired project outputs and available funding, and overseeing the delivery of the project by specific project teams.
My experience at ITS has helped in my job and career from the hands-on skills obtained from practical modules that became useful in the work place. In addition to the inter personal relationship skills with people of different cultural backgrounds got carried on from ITS to the work environment at Network Rail.
Technology is changing the world at a fast rate and transportation & mobility needs to adapt to keep up with the pace. I looked through the modules listed on the course website and I knew it was the right choice for me to acquire the necessary skills to impact on providing solutions to transport problems faced in the world today.
My advice to students interested in this course and a career in transport is that innovations keep changing the Transport sector. Therefore students should adopt a continuous learning culture.
The highlight of my career so far is getting to work in the Rail industry. I did not have much previous experience in rail and working at Network Rail has exposed me to a lot of new opportunities.
My advice to ITS international students who are seeking work in the transport sector is that, depending on where they come from or want to work and settle, different cities may have different transport needs. Students should have this at the back of their minds as they go through their studies, so that they take back the relevant skills and knowledge to their cities.
