Working in partnership
Jointly funded staff positions between the Met Office and the University of Leeds provide the foundation for the partnership.
- Professor Paul Field is a Met Office Science Fellow and Professor of Climate and Weather Science at Leeds (ICAS, SEE)
- Professor Jason Lowe is the Priestley Centre for Climate Futures Chair, the Head of Climate Services and Deputy Director at the Met Office Hadley Centre. (Priestley, ICAS, SEE)
In addition, although not a joint post, Professor Simon Vosper is a Visiting Professor of Atmospheric Dynamics. He is the Executive Director of Meteorological Science at the Met Office, leading the Science programme and strategy.
MetOffice@Leeds
MetOffice@Leeds is the sizeable group of staff based at the University Leeds, who are either employed by the Met Office, or with a joint position, or regularly seconded to the Met Office. MetOffice@Leeds enables close coordination and collaboration with the Met Office across science and social-science, weather and climate, and includes under-pinning capabilities in computing, especially around Met Office models, based in CEMAC.

- Professor John Marsham is the Met Office Joint Chair at Leeds and Chair of the Academic Partnership (ICAS, SEE)
- Dr Sarah Jenkins is a Lecturer in Applied Decision Making (LUBS)
- Dr Nadhir Ben Rached is an Associate Professor in Applied Statistics (School of Mathematics)
- Dr Leighton Regayre is a Senior Research Fellow on aerosol evaluation (ICAS, SEE)
- Dr Steven Boeing is a Research Fellow specialising in fluid dynamics and thermodynamics of moist convection (ICAS, SEE)

- Dr Dan Grosvenor is an Atmospheric Composition Climate Scientist (Senior Scientist) (ICAS, SEE)
- Dr Richard Keane is a Met Office Senior Scientist and Research Fellow, working on scale interactions in the water cycle (CEMAC, ICAS, SEE)
- Dr Neha Mittal is a Met Office Senior Climate Services Scientist (SRI, SEE)
- Dr Steven Turnock is a Met Office Senior Scientist, studying the interaction of air pollutants with climate (ICAS, SEE)
Secondments
Met Office staff commonly take the opportunity to visit the University of Leeds, to conduct research, as part of their Continuing Professional Development programme, or within joint research projects.
