Dr Adam Booth

Thanks for your interest in MSc Exploration Geophysics! Masters education is a central part of Leeds’ School of Earth and Environment.

As an MSc student, you’ll benefit from the world-leading geophysics excellence of our teaching teams, their commitment to student education, and recognised accreditation from the UK’s Geological Society. Particularly exciting is the pivotal role that Exploration Geophysics plays in the energy revolution: as society moves towards a low-carbon future, subsurface exploration is essential to characterising new geological solutions to energy demand.

My own research involves surveying on glaciers, and I’m always excited to discover how new geophysical technologies can benefit understanding in this environment – and I hope that I can enthuse my students in the same way!

I’ve always believed that our students are not only the lifeblood of the university, they are the future of innovation in both academic and private sectors. I am constantly blown away by the research projects that our MSc students undertake, preparing them for exactly this future, and seeing their development as independent geoscience specialists is enormously rewarding.

As the Programme Leader of MSc Exploration Geophysics, it is my top priority to give our students the best possible foundation in subsurface geophysical investigation. With a dedicated teaching team and an internationally excellent research environment, our experience translates into one of the most up-to-date geoscience degree schemes possible.
