Physical Climate & Cryosphere

The Physical Climate and Cryosphere research cluster brings together world leading research into climate change, ice sheets and palaeoclimate. We use a range of methods including climate and ice sheet models, satellite observations and machine learning. ​

​A key aspect is understanding climate and the impacts of climate change, in the past, the present and the future. We also work across many other disciplines including atmospheric dynamics, the biosphere, human impacts, ancient civilizations and ocean circulation.​

The cluster is organised into four research groups, Physical Climate Change, Ice and Climate, Palaeoclimate and the Cryosphere. Currently, the cluster is led by Dr Daniel Hill.
