I currently work for a consultancy that specializes and transport and spatial analysis. I lead our ‘People and Places’ team which specialises in transport for complex urban environments. Planning and designing for safe, happy and healthy people.
My ITS experience enabled me to take a step up in my career. I’ve also drawn on the specific knowledge gained through my dissertation to develop an area of specialism. My dissertation was entitled ‘valuing citywide walking and cycling’.
I was already working in the transport industry before coming to Leeds and I chose ITS due to its international profile. I know many people in New Zealand who have studied at ITS and knew it was a recognized brand by employers.
My advice to students interested in this course and a career in transport is that there is so much going on in the transport sector and it really is an industry that has something for everyone, whether you like detailed analysis, understanding human behaviour or technology. It’s also an industry that has huge potential to support wellbeing and sustainability initiatives, where you can elicit real change.
