To prepare the Momentum software stack for next generation hardware architectures. Porting UKCA to GPUs by leveraging the PSyclone DSL compiler used to generate either OpenACC or OpenMP.
By September 2025 the modifications will allow the Met Office software to make efficient use of modern HPC suystems through enabling ‘accelerator aware’ coding changes.
