Why did you decide to study at the Institute for Transport Studies?

I have always been passionate about transport studies and particularly about how to achieve a modal shift from car to more sustainable transport options. The Institute for Transport Studies is renowned for its result oriented research.

What has been the best aspect of studying on your course and at the University and why?

The immense knowledge of the academics has been the best aspect of studying my course. And the multicultural environment of the university gave me the opportunity to understand and learn from other cultures. It also enables me to work in multicultural teams.

Tell us about some of the exciting projects you have completed so far?

University has many interesting and exciting projects running all year around. For example, during my PhD, I was part of a team of researchers carrying out a study about the transport challenges of an ageing population in the EU. Also, I was involved in Project EMPOWER which aimed to reduce the use of conventionally fuelled vehicles hence promoting sustainable transport.

What does Leeds as a city have to offer students?

Leeds is a beautiful city with big gardens, plenty of greenery as well as a very lively night scene.

What are your ambitions for the future?

As a PhD student, my ambition is to produce high quality actionable research.

What experiences at Leeds do you think will help you in your future career?

Experience of being part of on-site and remote team in a rapid growth world we know that a team can be a hundred miles apart however they work as a unit.

What would you say to students coming to do the same course?

Try and enjoy all that the University of Leeds has to offer academically and extracurricular, enjoy the rich history and heritage of Leeds and Yorkshire and to encourage exchanging experiences with all the colleagues and other students.
