Climate-smart agriculture and crop breeding

Adaptation is a core part of our work, including, for example, assessing the crop varietal properties required for future climates and their relationship to existing germplasm. We work with the Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) initiative of the CGIAR, on the topic of Climate-Smart Agriculture, including mitigation. This work has two foci: the evidence base for CSA at scale, and the development of climate-smart breeding (e.g Challinor et al., 2016).
